How do I go about becoming a helicopter medic in the Army?
I want to ride in the back of helicopters and pick people up from the battlefield vs being on the field at all times like a field medic The risk balances out I guess, you could either suffer a quick death in the back of an unarmed helicopter or a slower one in the back of a Humvee(I'd be afraid to be cooped up in a hummer)

- You have to become an EMT first and then join the Army and request that job.
- All right so I have read up on this talked to requiters and current 68WF6 (flight medics) and the answer that I have come up with is that you have to be a 68W (combat medic) for at least one year and have at least two years remaining on your contract to attend a four week course to become a flight medic.
- Fire_bug is generally correct, but even if you have the F6 identifier that doesn't mean you will always be a flight medic. Our last flight medic just PCS'd (moved) to an infantry unit to be a combat medic.
