where can I find specific information about a recent attack against us troops in iraq?

One o my best friends and gof-father of my daughter has been in Iraq on and off for 3 years now. He was on his final tour before his release from the army this comming fall. He has been station in iraq, not exactly sure where. Sometime in the last 4 days the hummer which he was riding in was bombed. There was a total of 6 troops in his vehicle, including him. He is currently in germany awaiting a flight to Washington to be taken to a military hospital in the US. Currently they are trying to save hs left knee and above, as the lower half has already been removed because there was soo much shrapnal in it and they couldn't control the bleeding. I am looking to find more information about this particular attack. I can't find anything on google, or BBC. Does anyone know of a way to get more info? He has no way of getting in touch with us at least until the end of the week when he will arrive back in the states. Currently his parents are flying to washington to meet him when he returns so we cant get ahold of them. Any help would be appreciated. well i know where he is and when hell b here. but I also wont feel comfortable asking him the details even when I do see him. And im sure he wont b ready to talk about them. So I am hoping to find details through the news.
