- New= costs more. So thats the gist of it.
- Cash pure and simple, if there is something better on the market and we don't have it, its because of cash! Murph's 4th law of combat "Remember your kit was made by the lowest bidder!" There is also a desire to buy British although this not always the case as many firms have outsources abroad; the new "warthog" is either being built in malaysia or singapore! There is also the case to save money, such as we've loads of "Snatch" landrovers left over from Ireland lets use them!
- Because the British Army and RAF regiment now mainly use the Panther vehicle. http://www.armyrecognition.com/images/stories/europe/united_kingdom/wheeled_vehicle/panther/pictures/Panther_wheeled_armoured_vehicle_personnel_carrier_United_kingdom_British_Army_001.jpg
- Because the British have different requirements for a light utility vehicle than the American's do thus need a different vehicle to fulfill those requirements.
- cost, they cost a lot of money
- Because the Hummers shit.
- Hummers are not being made any more.
- The reason why Hummers are not used is because they have just as little protection as a Land Rover. Hundereds of US troops have died whilst using Hummers. The British Army has in fact ordered a highly capable vehicle to protect the soldiers. They are called Mastiff, Wolfhound and Ridgeback. 495 are either delivered or on order. Soldiers will survive even the largest IED's with as little as concussion. In 2004 the vehicle survived over 300 IED's attacks with no fatalties in Iraq whilst in use by the US Marines.
