Hummer

H2 (Hummer) Car Question!?

Alright, so I just turned 16 two weeks ago, and my parents made me wait for my present for two weeks ( I was bummed, but they said it would be worth the wait ) and they suprised me with a brand new H2 Hummer :) ANYWAY Currently already, I am getting 11MPG, but I've heard rumors that the more I drive it, the better the gas milage will get. Is this true? I can provide pictures if needed.

  1. Normally it will get better, but in your case the type of vehicle you drive it probably won't get much better than that.
  2. your gasoline consumption is heavily based upon how you drive the car. if you drive easy and do not let the engine get into higher rpm's, you will be burning less. however, the mpg will not lower just because the car has been driven longer. also, highway driving burns less gas because you keep the engine at a steady speed. 11mpg sounds good for a H2.
  3. If it's new, yes But a Hummer H2 for 16 year old..........your mom and dad are stupid
  4. Your gas mileage might increase just a little bit as the engine and drivetrain goes through its break-in period (the first thousand miles or so), but not substantially. At the most you might see a 0.5 MPG improvement. After that, your fuel efficiency can only go down. The air filter will get dirty and make the engine less efficient, parts will begin to wear, etc. This is true of all normal cars.
  5. as the poster above me stated it'll Increase for a short while at Break even but then decrease as the engine deteriorates. and what were your parents thinking when they bought that SUV/Truck I mean first its pretty useless compared to competetion (Range Rover) and its get's worst milage then a lot of high end performance Supercars, example an Enzo ferrari gets about 15 mpg. anyways enjoys your car to the Fullest
  6. Who is dumb enough to give a 16 yr old a brand new anything? That thing wont see your 18th bday in 1 piece. Your mileage will probably go up a little but I wouldn't expect anything more than 12-13 mpg even in the best of situations. It will probably reach its peak around 7,500 miles. Its nothing more than a heavier, less aerodynamic, more powerful Chevy Tahoe. Those 3 things will all lower the mileage.
  7. nope, it's the opposite. the more you use the car, the more HP it loses and the more you engine wears out. This makes the gas mileage worse.
